SINOPSIS :

A Simple Introduction to Discourse Analysis is a comprehensive yet accessible guide designed to introduce readers to the fundamental concepts, theories, and methods of discourse analysis. Structured systematically, the book explores the intellectual roots of discourse through the works of Foucault, traces the historical development of discourse analysis, and unpacks its essential concepts such as text, context, co-text, cohesion, and coherence. It also offers practical insights into text analysis, content analysis, and the role of register in communication. A unique strength of the book lies in its balanced combination of theoretical grounding and practical application, making complex topics—such as critical discourse analysis, pragmatics, and ideology—easy to understand for beginners while still valuable for more advanced learners. By integrating examples, models, and analytical frameworks, the book equips readers with the tools needed to critically examine language use in various contexts. Written in a clear and engaging style, this book is not only an academic reference but also a practical companion for students, educators, and researchers who want to sharpen their analytical skills. A Simple Introduction to Discourse Analysis invites its readers to see language as more than words, but as a powerful medium that shapes thought, society, and ideology—making it an essential read for anyone eager to explore the world of discourse.
